G'day y'all!

Not much to say today, I still have issues with my HTC Touch, I'll get in touch with telus on the weekend to see if a fix is availiable if not I'll be back to my old LG.

Good news though, Google Chrome is now out of beta. This is actually big news, because google usually doesn't take stuff out of beta for a long time (see gmail still in beta after a few years). It's also good to see they've fixed a few issues like the java image uploader in facebook and a few other rendering problems I've encountered. The biggest one still to fix in my opinion is the can't type in a reply email on hotmail, but a fix should be out shortly. (I know you can change the useragent to circumvent this, but it's not a real fix).

I've got a question for you all in case someone cares to answer, what original gifts do you have planned for Christmas this year. I'm looking for cool ideas, but not something everyone is used to getting as a gift.

Well I'm off to bed, I'll write something interesting tomorrow ;)

This post is actually just a test to see if the mirror blog app on facebook works correctly. I'll keep you posted on if it works or not.

Well.... I tried, my phone is still freezing up all the time, but hey I should have known... it is running Windows. I have to pull out the battery every couple of hours to unfreeze it, even then it only starts up correctly half the time. I'll probably get tired of it real soon and reactivate my old phone, we'll see.

On another note, I saw a couple movies in the past few days here's what I thought of them:
- Four Christmases: Nice little romantic comedy with Vince Vaughn and Reese Whitherspoon. Not the best movie of the year but entertaining and fits well during the Christmas season.

- Traitor: Staring Don Cheadle; I liked this quite a bit, I hadn't heard of it before I watched it but it's a nice action/drama. Very entertaining, nice plot, a bit predictable but I enjoyed it none the less.

- House Bunny: Uhm... yeah I really did watch this, guess I was bored. A playboy bunny gets kicked out of the mansion and goes to college..... not that good a movie, not at all, some funny parts but overall, just another teen movie.

- Stricly Sexual: Nice movie, 2 guys move into a house with 2 californian girls and pay rent with sex. Nice concept, not too cheasy and overall entertaining.

I saw a few others but don't remember at this point. Hope it helps in your movie choices.

Another side note, Dattebayo fansubs is dropping naruto ... Too bad, they were doing a good job but I can see why they are doing this. I'd just like to thank them in case they ever read this. Oh and I will be sending them a Christmas card as they suggested!!

Well enough ranting away for me for tonight!.
Peace

Hey all! I recently acquired a Telus HTC Touch P4000 mobile phone.(Telus Link) Long story short my dad gave it to me cause he got a blackberry. Unfortunately after replacing it on my account through customer support (btw the lady I spoke to was very nice, unlike the service I used to get with Bell mobility) , I realized that the phone itself wasn't all that great. First off after going to a telus store to get my contacts transfered over from my old phone to my new one (usually a simple procedure they do for 10$), they told me it couldn't be done because the HTC touch had compatibility issues, so I would have to transfer my 107 contacts by hand...  Ok I can deal with that, lots of waisted time but I'll survive. But what really started to bug me is that the phone, within 2 hours of activation froze 4 times at which point I had to take out the battery , put it back in then restart it for it to work again.

At this point I had two choices... I wasn't going to endure this, so either I reactivate my old phone, or I try and fix the problem. I figured I would try to fix it first so here's what I did. I decided I would try and see if there was a new firmware available and there was, actually the whole OS (windows mobile) had an update, so I tried it.

Here's what I did.  First you need to download the synch center from Microsoft, if you're running windows XP. I was actually running windows vista, so I downloaded the Windows Mobile Device Manager instead, which is not available for XP. I installed the software on my laptop, plugged in my phone and tried to synch it to the computer. Everything went ok. Once you get the synch center working this is the point where you want to back up your data that you have on your phone. Since at this point I didn't have anything I skipped this, but it's not hard, just copy the files from the phone to the PC through the folder manager .

Once everything works fine, I downloaded the Updated Manager from HTC to my computer. That was pretty easy. Next you have to make sure you have an active Synch with your phone, that your battery has lots of power, cause the update takes about 10 mins and make sure you have no other programs running. Then you just launche the update manager and don't touch anything till it finishes if you don't want a bricked phone. Just follow the instructions on the HTC site and it's quite simple. Don't forget to backup your stuff because everything gets wipped out after doing this.

At this point I got an error. Errror 260 which says bad port or something. I just read the readme that came with the program and it told me to reboot the phone and start over. That's what I did and it worked. I then let it run for the 10 minutes. Note: the phone will reboot a few times, turn off, turn on, my windows said it was disconnected then reconnected, but it must all be normal because the update worked.

When I turned my phone back on at the end I now had Windows Mobile 6,1 running. When you start it up for the first time, it shows you the new options, prompts you for a password and restarts again. All went well and when it came up again all was good.

Next step was programming it, so I dialed *22803 , then when the little lady started talking I hit 1 for english and 1 for phone programming. Everything is done automatically. I did notice that the call ended before the lady could tell me how to set up my voicemail because the phone rebooted, but that's ok I don't need help with that.

Now my phone works ok, I'll keep you posted on if it fixes the freezing problem or not.

Hail,

I'm currently in a human resources class which is particularly boring, so I thought I'd leave a little post on here. Not much to say except I currently a friend of Tarko from New Zealand staying over at my place. Basically she's over here to visit Canada a bit and she decided to drop by in Sherbrooke.

Also, I'd like to say that Telus Mobility kind of sucks. I tried calling Tarko out in New Zealand and apparently I can't make international calls on my cell phone without activating a special feature which can only be done over the phone. So instead of Telus making more money, I'll just skype call him or send him an email, too bad for them.

Well that's all for now during this boring class....
Peace.
